Barton scored on a reverse layup with just under nine minutes left in the third quarter and immediately went down to the court, holding his groin area. He remained there for several minutes before being wheeled off the court on a chair.
After the game, Barton said he first felt the injury when he jumped for the layup, adding that he heard a pop. An MRI is scheduled for Sunday.
Barton, who scored 19 points in Denver’s season-opening victory on Wednesday, had tallied 14 points before leaving Saturday’s contest. He averaged a career-high 15.7 points last season for the Nuggets.
